The Bosomefreho District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has intensified efforts to combat illegal mining, issuing a firm directive to all small-scale miners to submit their operational licenses for verification and assessment.
The move forms part of a broader strategy of the assembly to curb environmentally destructive mining practices and promote responsible operations.
Addressing the miners in an illegal mining fighting strategic meeting held today, the District Chief Executive, Hon Charles Appiah Kubi, gave a seven-day ultimatum for all licensed operators to present their documents.
He cautioned that failure to comply would trigger strict enforcement actions by the assembly’s task force.
Hon Kubi emphasised that mining activities within water bodies, forest reserves, and along major roads remain strictly prohibited.
