It Will Be Difficult For Me To Forgive You For Calling Me A Liar – Akim Oda MP To Eastern Regional NPP Chairman

The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, is standing firm, refusing to forgive NPP Eastern Regional Chairman Jeff Konadu Addo for describing him ‘a liar’ on national television.

The controversy began when Mr Addo reprimanded Mr. Acquah and other MPs in the Eastern Region for not supporting Bryan Acheampong in the NPP presidential primary, claiming the Abetifi MP financially supported them in the 2024 elections.

But the Akim Oda MP has denied the regional chairman’s allegations, prompting the chairman to call the MP a liar.

Speaking to Barima Kofi Dawson on Nhyria FM’s “Kro Yi Mu Nsem”, the lawmaker said he’s a man of integrity and felt let down by the chairman’s comment calling him a liar.

He clarified that the money he received from Jeff Addo at Bryan Acheampong’s house was for the 2024 D-Day campaign.

He said Bawumia’s team directed him to collect it from Bryan Acheampong, who was the Eastern Regional Coordinator during the campaign.

He emphasized his personal achievements and contributions to his constituency to justify himself.

“A good name is worth more than wealth. I got my mansion at 25, and now I’m around 50 with lots of properties. I’ve spent over ¢5 million of my own money on constituency development without reimbursement. So ¢1.5 million is too small an amount for me to lie about.”

Akwasi Acquah is challenged Jeff Addo to release evidence backing his claims.

“You claim to have CCTV footage showing you told us—the Eastern Regional MPs—that the money came from Bryan Acheampong’s personal funds. Release it, and I will apologize if I am wrong.”

The MP expressed his disappointment and hurt, saying, “I have a lot of respect for my regional chairman Jeffery Addo but him calling me a liar on TV, I’ll find it hard to forgive him”.

When the host asked if he will forgive the regional chairman if he apologized for describing him as a liar, the MP said he will forgive him if he does.

The standoff highlights the intense politics within the NPP as members gear up for future elections.
